DAIS

Hey guys,

I’m back from my advanced training on SAP’s new UI technology called Web Dynpro. It was a 5 day (Monday to Friday) classroom training in big Berlin. It was great and Berlin is a fantastic city. Although I was in classroonm all day long (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) plus excercises ans stuff like that, I explored Berlin in the evening.
My hotel was in town center, thus it was easy to find the exciting places very fast :) .
Monday Evening  I went to  one of Berlin’s great lakes for swimming, because this day it was about 40°C. It was just unbelievable hot. Tuesday, I went to McFit Berlin to do my workout. Wednesday I walked through the streets and had a little look at the folks. :)   Thursday was another workout day and Friday I travelled back home.

It was a great week and I learned a lot about the new UI concept of SAP called Web Dynpro.
Its an awesome new technology and I hope to use it to create some great stuff for my company.

Right now I’m installing SAP Netweaver 7.0 ABAP on my notebook to develop some stuff on my own system.
I’ll report back if has worked or not.

Every sunday, from now on I’m gonna try to sum up everything I’ve done in the current week . This is my first Resumée and it’s going to be about last week. I know you are absolutely not interessted in what I’m doin’ all day, but I’m doin’ this primarily for myself. As I’m flooded with information day by day, be it at work, at university or at home reading newspaper, I just need a place to store at least a small peace of this information overflow.

Week23 – 2007
Last week was rather uneventful. I did a bit of research in Webservices and how they are realized in SAP.
Webservice is an interface between to different/individual Systems which want to communicate and exchange data with each other. For instance two different SAP Systems of two different companies like to exchange data on a regualary basis. Due to the fact, that SAP is a very complex System, its not just a simple send-and-accept procedure. Just image two people speaking different languages. They wanna talk to each other, but they dont understand each other. Webservice takes the place of an interpreter. The Air, the transport medium, represents in our case the protocoll HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) which transports the translated speech in our case the SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol).
The content respectively the speech itself is in our case the WSDL (Webservice Description Language) based on XML (eXtensible Markup Language).

Besides, I’m going to build up an inhouse communication plattform where everyone can ask questions, discuss and resolve problems. I finished it last week and will present it this week. Maybe I’ll post some pictures of it in the next resumée.

That’s it for now with the most important tec.news from last week. See ya next week.

Hey folks,

I apologize for my abstinence last week. Due to a broken modem I wasn’t able to get my daily dose of internet, including Blogking. But I’m back, obviously. :D

Besides my inet probs, I had some inhouse trainings concerning SAP.
On Monday I had a course about SAP BW Explorer and his two main instruments the BEx Browser and the BEx Analyzer.
SAP BWBusiness Warehouse – is used to gather huge amount of data and put it up in a report. SAP BW continues where SAP’s standard GUI reaches it’s limits as far as displaying lots of data in an adequate amount of time. Business Warehouse is specialized on that and its not unusual to process up to 2 million data sets.

On Thursday and on Friday, I had another inhouse schooling about mySAP ERP2005 ABAP Objects, BAdIs, BDT and Storable Extensions. As far as ABAP Objects is concerned, I’m hopefully going to visit SAP course BC401 in the upcoming months. ABAP Objects is nothing less than object-orientated programming with ABAP.
BAdIs, Business Add Ins, are similar to BAPIs. BAdIs are interfaces/programs by SAP to extend or enhance standard programs delivered by SAP.
BDT, Business Data Toolset, has its function in maintaining SAP programs. Whereas with BAdIs you “change” the inner structure of programs, with the BDT you accommodate the “skin” of it. The BDT allows you to add input fields, change field grouping and so on.
